This is a woodblock print with three blocks. The image is 13 x 7 inches and it was done specifically for a benefit the Baren Forum internet group is having for Tsunami victims in Japan. All the money we raise will go to Mercy Corps and their partner in Japan, Peace Winds. I have printed about 50 but the amount needed for the benefit is 30 plus 1 for the Baren Forum Archives.

This image is “borrowed” from the old time master of woodblock, Hiroshige, but I don’t think he would mind.

Those of us who have studied and appreciated Japanese woodblock prints owe Japan a great deal and we are excited and happy to be part of this benefit. The prints will be shown around the world, we have over 60 artists from all over participating in the benefit, so 60 x 30 is 1800 prints and right now they are almost all sitting in file boxes on my kitchen table, but in August they will be shown at PNCA in Portland, Atelier 6000 in Bend and in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is the beginning of our benefit which we hope will be wildly successful. Here is the brochure, front and back that was designed by Erin Nolan from Dekalb, Il.
